Let's be honest: nobody keeps up a 12-step routine. I tried. I bought the shelf, lined up the bottles, felt very proud of myself for about nine days, and then life happened.
What survived isn't a routine, really. It's a ritual, and it takes ten minutes on a slow night. Four steps. That's it. Here's exactly how it goes in my bathroom, most evenings, in the real world where sometimes I'm tired and skip step two.
Step 1: Cleanse (but gently)
Everything starts with a proper cleanse. Not the aggressive, squeaky-clean kind that leaves your face feeling two sizes too small. A gentle one. I use the Patte de Velours, lukewarm water, slow circles, done. The point isn't to strip your skin. It's to take the day off, literally.
Step 2: The cold bit
This is the step that wakes my face up. The Réveil Glacé is a cooling massage tool, and the sensation is hard to describe until you've tried it: cold, smooth, instantly refreshing, like splashing your face with spring water, minus the mess.
I keep it simple: slow strokes, outward and upward, no pressing like you're trying to iron something. A minute or two. If I'm exhausted, I skip it, and the world does not end.
Step 3: Sculpt
Now the gua sha. The Éclat de Jade is the tool people ask me about most, probably because it looks like a little piece of jewellery that wandered into the bathroom.
Two things nobody tells beginners: never use it on dry skin (you want glide, always), and the stone should lie almost flat against your face, not dig in at an angle. Flat, gentle, slow. It's a massage, not a workout. Our stone is Xiuyan jade, a natural serpentine stone, which is why every piece has slightly different veining. That's not a flaw, it's the whole charm.
Step 4: Pause
The step everyone skips and the one I'd fight to keep. The Voile de Jade is the pause at the end: lie down, breathe, let everything settle. Ten minutes of doing absolutely nothing, on purpose.
Half the benefit of a ritual is the ritual part.
The honest summary
Total time: about ten minutes. Products: four. Willpower required: low, which is exactly why it works. A routine you do four nights a week beats a perfect one you abandon by February, every single time.
